SHIPPING

When will my order ship?

All orders are processed within 1 - 3 business days (excluding weekends and public holidays). You'll receive an email notification with tracking info as soon as your order is on its way.

Note: During new releases or sale events, things can get a little hectic in our stockroom — please allow a little bit of extra time for us to fulfil your order.

How long does shipping take?

Once your order leaves our hands, Australia Post takes over! While we do our best to get your books packed and posted quickly, delivery times are ultimately in their hands. You’ll receive a tracking number to follow your parcel’s journey - but please keep in mind that occasional delays may occur that are outside our control.

Do you offer pick-up for my order?

We don’t offer local pickup at this time. All orders are shipped directly to your doorstep to keep things simple and hassle-free. Thanks for understanding!

Do you offer international shipping?

We don’t offer international shipping at the moment. Hopefully in the future, we will be able to!

RETURNS

What is your Return Policy?

At Spellbound Stories Bookstore, we take great care in selecting and packaging your orders - and we want you to be delighted with every delivery. 

Return Eligibility

  • We offer refunds on items that are faulty, damaged, or incorrect. (Please check what qualifies as damaged under our guidelines)
  • Returned to us within 7 days of delivery
  • In original condition (unless the issue is a product fault)

If your parcel arrives damaged or not as described, please email us at info@spellboundstoriesbookstore.com.au with your order number and a photo of the item so we can sort things out swiftly.

Refunds Not Available For:

  • Change of mind purchases
  • Customised/personalised items
  • Perishables
  • Sale items, preorders, or special editions, or book-related merchandise including but not limited to mugs, stickers, kindle grips, notebooks, journals, tote bags, candles and so on.
  • Items that have been used, read, or are no longer in original condition

Please note that return postage to us is the customer’s responsibility unless the item is faulty or incorrect.

We reserve the right to refuse any returns, refunds or exchanges if the terms of this policy are not met.

We’re a small indie bookstore doing our best to keep the magic alive, and we deeply appreciate your support and understanding.

What is your Exchange Policy?

We want you to love every bookish treasure you receive! However, if something’s not quite right, we’re here to help.

We accept exchanges for items that are:

  • Unused and in their original condition
  • Returned within 7 days of delivery

Please note:

  • Return postage is the customer’s responsibility unless the item is faulty or incorrect.
  • We’re unable to offer exchanges on sale items, special orders, or preorders.
  • As much as we love a good plot twist, we can’t accept exchanges for a simple change of mind.

When will I receive my refund?

Once your return is received and approved, your refund will be processed back to your original payment method.
Please allow 5–10 business days for the funds to appear in your account - processing times may vary depending on your bank or payment provider.

Returns on sale items?

We cannot provide a refund on a sale item, gift card, change of mind or special orders.

DAMAGED BOOK GUIDELINES

What qualifies as a damaged book?

  • A tear/rip/cut or visible scratch on the front of the book/dust jacket or spine larger than 1cm
  • Residue or marks on the front or spine that cannot be removed and are larger than 1cm.
  • Dents or crushed edges bigger than 1cm
  • More than one ripped or bent page that affects the text on the pages
  • Production defects (such as a missing finish)

What does not qualify as a damaged book?

  • Light scratches, marks or residue on the back of the book/dust jacket
  • Scratches or unevenly sprayed edges
  • Small white spots or scratches on sprayed edges, bleeding onto pages, or issues with the top or bottom edge of the book
  • Minimal creasing on top or bottom of the book spine, dust jacket, or corners.
  • Wavy pages
  • Ripped or damaged blank pages

Do you take preorders?

At Spellbound Stories, we pour our heart into curating magical bookshelves filled with stories you can touch, flip through, and take home right away. We’ve chosen not to offer preorders for a few thoughtful reasons:

Our focus is on what’s currently in stock - beautiful editions, indie gems, and must-reads you can discover and fall in love with today.

📦 To avoid disappointment
Preorders can come with unexpected delays, supply issues, or changes beyond our control. Rather than leave you waiting or let you down, we prefer to list items only when they're physically in our hands, ready for you.

📚 We're a little bookstore with a big heart
As a small business, we work with limited storage and resources. Preordering adds a layer of complexity that pulls us away from what we love most: connecting with our readers and bringing you beautiful books, in real time.

Can I pop my name down on a waitlist for a book?

We don’t take names for waitlists simply because availability can be unpredictable - especially with limited editions, imports, and indie titles. Stock arrival times often vary, and in some cases, we’re not guaranteed to receive more copies. To keep things fair and transparent, we recommend keeping an eye on our website for updates or social media for restocks.

What are your working hours?

As we are primarily online, it does make it hard to switch off. We are contactable within the normal working hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday via email!
